Research Using the NCS Scanner

General Information

Collecting Data

Requirements and Restrictions

Data Transferral Process

Procedure

Data from the NCS scanner can be used to run specialized analysis. The instructions below do not apply to generalized testscoring and faculty evaluations since Educational and Information Technology produces results from these processes automatically. This publication is geared, instead, to the user who needs to analyze data beyond the generalized procedures. It applies, for example, to the researcher who wants to collect and analyze survey data and to the instructor who wants to run specialized analysis on testscoring data.

The following forms are available for collecting data or research:

If you would like a sample form or need help in determining which form to use, please check with a member of Data Entry.

Also, before collecting data Educational and Information Technology recommends that you outline the steps necessary to complete the project and make certain you have the means to complete each step. Some questions to consider are:

  • How many responses are necessary?
  • Does the data have to be transported?
  • What analysis must be done? Do I have the means to accomplish the analysis?
  • Are there any time or budget constraints?

If necessary, see a member of the Service Request Line about any questions or problems.
