About Operations

Operations: Has a number of major areas of responsibility: Computer Operations; Data Entry; Production Control; Operating System Software Support; Special Projects;  Account Management; and the Service Request Line.

Computer Operations: Responsible for running and printing faculty and student jobs, as well as all administrative jobs, and operating/monitoring equipment in the Data Center.

Production Control: Responsible for submission of administrative system jobs (Student Records, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Budget, Admissions, etc.) and their verification, and assisting Administrative Information Systems in their development of new systems and maintenance of existing systems.

Special Projects: Currently business continuity and disaster recovery; and automated scheduling (lights-out environment)

User accounts: Management of Educational and Information Technology's computer accounts (including Outlook, Network and CMS (UofT01).

Data Entry/Test Scoring & Scanning: Responsible for the keying and submission of input for major administrative computer systems (Student Records, Payroll, Accounts Payable, etc). They also scan NCS forms and run jobs to obtain output for test scoring, faculty evaluations, and data analysis.

Operating System Software Support: Responsible for installation and maintenance of the operating system software used on the IBM 7060-H50 Enterprise Server. These include VM/ESA (CP and CMS) and OS390. The group is also responsible for the teleprocessing (CICS) systems and networking software such as TCP/IP and RSCS. In addition, this group installs and maintains all Enterprise Server compilers and software packages.

Help Desk: Receives and forwards requests for help and/or service to the proper group/individual. Provides Remote Access assistance and other services regarding computer access. Logs test scoring, faculty evaluations, etc.

Hardware Support: Repairs desktop computers and printers that are under warranty.
